  • Sweating
  • Numbness of hands or feet
  • Fear of dying
  • Nausea or abdominal discomfort

Social Phobia Anxiety Symptoms

Social phobia is also known as social anxiety. It is a chronic fear of being humiliated or negatively viewed by other people. Most everyone wants to be liked by other people and are embarrassed by certain situations but social phobics have an overwhelming fear that is much stronger than the normal anxiety that most non-phobics experience in social situations. Some of the most common symptoms include:

  • Fear of saying something stupid
  • Fear of blushing
  • Fear of public speaking
  • Fear of spilling food while eating in front of others
  • Fear of public bathrooms when others are in there
  • Fear of speaking to others
  • Fear of meeting new people
  • Fear of writing in front of others
  • Fear of large groups of people (i.e. lunch room, school campus, work, mall)
  • Fear of being watched while at school, work, etc.
  • Fear of taking tests

Specific Phobia Anxiety Symptoms

Specific phobia is an overwhelming anxiety that is brought on by one specific situation or object.  Here are some of the most common symptoms of specific phobia.

  • Panic when faced with feared object or situation
  • Anxiety when thinking about the feared situation or object
  • Fear
  • Avoidance
